Big Fix Houston is a large scale spay neuter event presented annually by Unity For A Solution in conjunction with the City of Houston and local animal welfare organizations.
The project’s goal is to educate pet owners and to provide free spay, neuter, vaccinations and microchipping to pets in areas of Houston with the most animal-related complaints, including high concentrations of stray dogs and cats.
Since its inception, Big Fix Houston has provided spay-neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchips to more than 3,000 pets of low-income families, completely free of charge. The program has focused on neighborhoods in Houston and the surrounding areas hardest hit by animal overpopulation and neglect including: Sunnyside, Acres Homes, East End, Fifth Ward, Northside, South Park, Third Ward and Westbury.
Due to huge public demand for Big Fix Houston services, the program has now been expanded to operate year around with a larger service area which will include: Harris County, Baytown, Cleveland, Pearland and South Houston.
Big Fix Houston’s success is due in large part to the collaborative efforts of our Unity partners, veterinary partners and local government officials.
